Contrary to popular belief, too much light is possible, even if heat is not a factor.  It can affect the plant in a fashion known as “photo-inhibition.”  This happens when too many photons hit the leaf at any given point and reduce photosynthesis.  The most common side-effect of this is bleaching and mottling of the upper growth.
